about

'Every time I play this, there is a large influx of interested emails wanting to know more.'
Gilles Peterson, Best of 2021 (So Far), BBC 6Music

Off the strength of just two tracks (included on this EP), Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Liam de Bruin has won the affection of like-minded locals Close Counters, Horatio Luna and Teymori as well as global tastemakers Osunlade, Jimpster, Mousse T, Gilles Peterson, Peacefrog, Art of Tones, Delfonic, Jazzanova, Red Rack'em, Smoove, Carista, Jazztronik and many more.

'Thinking About Dancing' is Liam's debut EP, with six tracks of soulful deep house and grooves, including a club-ready remix from 30/70 offshoot Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange. Now relocated to Berlin from Melbourne, drummer Ziggy Zeitgeist and ZFEX have been extending their collaborative reach, working with Jitwam, Wayne Snow, Ge-Ology, Oscar Jerome and Àbáse. ZFEX have taken Liam's slinky late night synth groover 'Lavender' and given it a tougher club twist, upping the tempo and adding touches of percussion and drops of acid.

A project conceived during Melbourne's extended lockdowns, Liam found himself separated from his band projects and with lots of time to spend in his garage studio in the beachside suburb of Frankston, which has a surprisingly long association with dance music (Carl Cox, Sleep D/Butter Sessions, 21st Century Dance Club, Andy Van, etc). There Liam recorded himself playing drums, bass, keyboards, guitar and percussion and then shaping those recordings into understated but funky organic grooves, full of hooks, twists and variations.

This is house made with a love of club and DJ culture, but from the perspective of a musician.
